2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty Base Engine
The standard engine on the entire Super Duty lineup is a 6.2-liter V8. This engine produces 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. As impressive as this engine is, the true star of the new Super Duty is the available diesel engine. Every Super Duty model can be equipped with with the second-generation Power Stroke 6.2-liter turbocharged diesel V8. This engine is able to produce an impressive 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque. Both engine options are paired with the TorqShift six-speed SlectShift automatic transmission designed to maximize performance.

Ford Super Duty Towing Ratings
That high torque rating does wonders for the Super Duty’s towing ratings. The heaviest hitter in the Super Duty lineup, the Ford F-450 offers a maximum gooseneck towing capacity of 32,500 pounds when properly equipped. This is almost 1,300 pounds more than the closest competitor. The conventional towing rating on the F-450 is still class-leading, checking in at 21,000 pounds. The F-350 and F-250 Super Duty models each offer best-in-class conventional towing ratings of 18,000 pounds.
Payload ratings on the F-350 Super Duty, 7,630 pounds, and the F-250 Super Duty, 4,200 pounds, are equally impressive. Both lead their respective classes.
