SYNC and SYNC with MyFord
Ford’s first-generation SYNC system features a horizontal text-based two-line LCD display. The SYNC with MyFord system pairs with a basic 4.2-inch color cluster display. With either system, the screen presents basic information, such as caller ID, song titles, time and temperature. Both systems also offer basic voice-command capability for hands-free calling and media selection.

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation
SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation operates through a color LCD screen. As the name suggests, a key feature of the system is its voice-enabled navigation system, which displays 3D maps and landmark icons. Other defining features include voice-activated radio tuning and HD Radio.
SYNC with MyFord Touch
SYNC with MyFord Touch can be found paired with either a 6.5- or 8-inch color touchscreen. The system can be accessed using a set of five-way controls on the steering wheel. The media hub offers two USB ports, an SD card reader and input jacks.

SYNC 3
The latest generation of SYNC technology, SYNC 3 is also found with either a 6.5- or 8-inch color touchscreen, plus steering wheel controls. The system features an enhanced user experience with easy-to-read text and icons. An updated home screen offers at-a-glance access to phone, audio and navigation (if equipped).
SYNC 3 is the first system in the line to feature smartphone-like swipe and pinch controls with the available navigation system. The system also features a quicker response times, an improved voice recognition system and a more capacitive touchscreen compared to the preceding SYNC variations.
I’m not so sure about what version of sync I should be updating to for my 2015 ford fusion titanium. Using the ford owner site, after entering the Vin number of my car, the response is that there is an update to sync 3.3. But using the same owner website on my Samsung tab, after entering my vin, it says an update to version sync2-v3.10. Why would I get 2 different responses. This is not making sense
I got the same thing when using my laptop and my phone, currently trying to figure out how to fix Ford’s fuck up by saying I could update to Sync 3. I’ve been researching website after website trying to figure out how to get my system working like normal again. It kept getting stuck on file 4 and not doing anything. Unhooked the battery terminal and let it set for about 5 min. got back in, the screen showing that my USB couldn’t be found was gone but the screen won’t do anything, no bluetooth, no radio, nothing. I really don’t wanna go to Ford and pay them for giving me the wrong update on the website. DON’T do the Sync 3 update whatever you do, myford touch IS NOT compatible.
Erika, you cannot update Sync 2 to Sync 3 with a software update. I haven’t seen where Ford said it could be done via a software update. In fact, everything I’ve read says it can’t be done. You have to completely change the hardware.
Steve, is you have Sync 2, then the Sync 2 version 3.10 is correct.
I think update is current but Siri doesn’t respond nor CarPlay to commands any longer while driving How can this be adjusted?
