After several tests, the Ford Interceptor lineup emerged with several significant recognitions. Both the Interceptor sedan and Interceptor utility models delivered times that significantly bested the competition.
Ford’s sedan interceptor model entered the competition powered by an EcoBoost V-6 engine. This engine helped the car out-perform even V-8-equipped models. After testing the 0-60 mile per hour times of all the competing vehicles, the Interceptor sedan turned in a time of 5.70 seconds, better than competing V-8 models. Extending the competition to 0-100 miles per hour allowed the Interceptor to continue to build its lead. The Ford sedan clocked a time of 13.62 seconds, besting the competition by almost an entire second.
Competition for the Interceptor utility model proved no closer. This larger police model was able to best the competition by over a second in the 0-60 test and by almost four seconds in the 0-100 mph test.
As one final test, the Michigan State Police Department took all the police vehicles out to Grattan Raceway and let them fight it out on the track. Once again, Ford’s two Interceptor models posted the fastest times.
