Ford made a massive effort to ensure all new Ford vehicles rolling off assembly lines, including built-in cellular data modems, by the end of 2019. What Ford Vehicles Have will Have SYNC® 4?
Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade your SYNC® 3 infotainment system to SYNC® 4. However, you will be able to find the next-generation infotainment system on upcoming Ford models.
What Ford vehicles will have SYNC® 4? The SYNC® 4 platform will appear in the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, set for release in late 2020. After the Mustang Mach-E, Ford will begin rolling out the SYNC® 4 platform on most redesigned Ford vehicles starting in 2020.
Ford revealed that SYNC® 4 can function on screens as small as 8 inches, but the Mustang Mach-E starts on the other end of the spectrum. The new all-electric SUV will feature a full 15.5-inch portrait-aspect touchscreen, the biggest screen size that SYNC® 4 supports.

What’s New for SYNC® 4?
Among the most dramatic changes, Ford promises that the newest over-the-air updates will be “virtually invisible to customers.” Updates will occur in the background, allowing you to keep running the current software until it can activate the new version. The current generation of SYNC® 3 is updated using a Wi-Fi or USB drive.
So its mapping features for optional navigation, search functions, concierge apps, and other services will offer everything from relevant, up-to-date points of interest to real-time traffic and weather updates. The system will also boast cord-free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a digital owner’s manual, enhanced navigation features with Adaptive Dash Cards, and intelligent machine learning capabilities.
