2018 Ford Mustang Models Get Electronic Line-Lock
Everyone who owns a Ford Mustang GT model equipped with a V8 engine knows how exciting and impressive its electronic line-lock feature is. Anyone who owns any other Mustang model doesn’t. But now the news has broken that all 2018 Ford Mustang models will get electronic line-lock no matter which engine or trim level is chosen. That means you can choose that V8 engine we already mentioned, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission or the six-speed manual transmission and still get to enjoy everything this incredibly fun track-focused feature has to offer.

What Does the Ford Electronic Line-Lock Feature Offer?
Ford’s electronic line-lock feature is most often utilized by drag racers ahead of the starting line to heat up the tire rubber for improved traction at the start of a race, but it can be enjoyed by anyone – as long as it’s used in a safe and controlled manner. Electronic line-lock uses the same state-of-the-art software utilized by amateur racers to achieve more consistent and speedy performance times. It’s activated by using steering wheel-mounted thumb switches to navigate a menu on your new Ford Mustang instrument cluster. Once engaged, the electronic line-lock system builds pressure on the front brake calipers, which is then held for up to 15 seconds so you can hit the throttle and spin the rear wheels while your 2018 Mustang stays stationary. More specifically, you get to perform the most wicked burnout ever. Even better, if your new Mustang features the available 12-inch all-digital instrument display, you’ll be able to see the industry-first, video-game-like animation of a spinning alloy wheel kicking up a cloud of smoke to indicate when electronic line-lock is activated.
“Burnouts just never get old, no matter how old you are and how many times you’ve done them. Who would have thought that we would see an EcoBoost Mustang producing 15 seconds of fury like this? You’ve got to love these rad things Ford is doing.” – Vaughn Gittin Jr., Formula Drift Champion
