The 2015 Ford F150 is making history as the first pickup truck ever to be constructed using aluminum for the body, and even though there were doubters, Ford stayed strong and stuck with its intuition to do something new. There are 5 2015 Ford F150 models: the XL, the XLT, the Lariat, the King Ranch and the Platinum. Prices for each of these models range from $25,800 to $51,350.
Within each of these models comes a variety of decisions future 2015 Ford F150 drivers need to make, including the cab size, box size and engine size.
The Regular cab is only available with the XL and the XLT models, and the SuperCab is available with the XL, the XLT and the Lariat, whereas the King ranch and Platinum are only available with the SuperCrew cab.
As far as the box goes, the three available sizes are 5-1/2’, 6-1/2’ and 8’. All three are available on all models except for the King Ranch and the Platinum model; only the 8’ box is available.
Four engine sizes are available with the all-new F150 including a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, a 3.5L EcoBoost, a 3.5L V6 and a 5L V8.
Drivers also must choose between 4X2 or 4X4 drive types. The maximum payload for the 2015 Ford F150 is 3,300 pounds with a Regular Car 4X2 with a 5L V8 engine and the Heavy Duty Payload package. The maximum towing capacity of the 2015 Ford F150 is 12,200 pounds, also when properly equipped. The 6-speed automatic transmission comes standard with the base model F150, but SelectShift Automatic is available in all models.
