The 2018 Ford Mustang comes with the choice between two different engines. The 3.7-liter V6 engine that came with the 2017 Mustang has been replaced with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. This new engine will offer outstanding performance and horsepower, while also offering more torque than ever before thanks to Ford’s transient overboost technology which has been uniquely calibrated for the new Mustang. The legendary Ford 5.0-liter V8 engine has also been completely reworked for the 2018 Mustang. The reworked engine is more powerful and revs higher than ever before due to Ford’s new dual-fuel high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection system. Both engines will also feature better fuel efficiency than a Ford Mustang has ever offered.
2018 Ford Mustang Transmission and Handling Features
The manual transmission for both of the aforementioned engines has been upgraded to provide optimal torque acceleration. The new 10-speed automatic transmission, complete with a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel, is also available for both engines. This is because of new shock absorbers, a new cross-axis joint in the rear suspension, innovative stabilizer bars and MagneRide damper technology.
