Not only is that the longest running success of any engine on the 2016 list, but is also shows how power is a priority in Ram engines.

2016 Ram 1500 3.0-liter EcoDiesel power and mileage
Each year FCA engineers push to add improvements and tweaks to the already excellent running of the powertrains on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel that powers the 2016 Ram 1500 produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. New technology also allows that impressive torque to be more readily available, improving acceleration and offering a smoother driving experience.
The Wars 10 Best Engines list is chosen annually by Ward’s AutoWorld magazine. Each engine on the list (and many that did not make the cut) are evaluated by horsepower, torque, noisiness, and vibration as well as other factors. Making the 10 Best List means that the engine is question stood out among many competitors to earn the honor.
This engine in the 2016 Ram 1500 has a fuel efficiency of 21 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 is also available in the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When outfitted in that SUV, this diesel engine offers best in class mileage of an EPA-rated 30 mpg.
