The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be participating in the 2016 Best of the Desert off-road racing series as part of the new factory stock class. We’re excited to see how this off-roading monster does thrown up against other all-terrain vehicles starting this week, February 4-7 in the Parker 425 in Arizona. The basic form of this truck is exactly the same vehicle that you’ll be able to purchase later this year, but there have been some racing enhancements specific to this model.
2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Off-road Racing Enhancements
Each 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will have standard features designed to offer the best off-roading experience, like a torsen front differential which can allow the truck to pull itself over obstacles even when traction is divided among all the tires, its first-ever dual exhaust and new Ford Performance 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Some special enhancements for the race version of the 2017 Raptor include:
- Front and rear race-optimized Fox Racing Shox
- Extra ground clearance and increased compression rate provided by specialty race front and rear springs
- Custom-fabricated roll cage
- Five-point harness safety belts and window nets with MasterCraft seats
- Racing fuel cells and LED light bars
- Specialty racing technology like the RacePak digital dash and data logger with GPS
