We already knew that the 2016 Ford F-150 was going to be a great vehicle, but now we know at least one way in which it’s going to rock the competition. The 2016 Ford F-150 was named Green Truck of the Year by the Green Car Journal for top environmental considerations as well as sustainable products used in the manufacturing.

This truck can also boast the highest EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of any full-size gas-powered pickup available today, with a whooping 26 mpg for highway driving with certain engines.
“We designed Ford F-150 to be a game changer,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager, in a recent Ford press release. “Many have recognized F-150 as the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 ever, but this award is proof it’s also a fuel-efficient, environmentally responsible option.”
Sustainable construction in the 2016 Ford F-150
New materials like lightweight (yet super strong) aluminum siding add to the improved mileage numbers for this truck, but other materials also help protect the environment.
